Bereavement Doulas

A bereavement doula, sometimes called a loss doula supports you physically and emotionally during the duration of your pregnancy, delivery of your baby, and the postpartum aftermath of a pregnancy loss.

Our doulas support you through pregnancy losses at any stage, whether your baby is being born early in the privacy of your home, or expected to arrive full term.

These doulas help you to navigate your options of delivery, locations, comfort tools, as well as being on-call to support by your side when your baby arrives. Many people are surprised that even an early pregnancy loss comes with contractions and bleeding and our bereavement doulas are there to help you cope with these, discuss your pain relief options, and also to help you navigate ways to commemorate your baby after you say goodbye.

Our doulas also help your partner navigate this loss and can connect both of you with many resources to celebrate your baby, navigate your medical options, commemorate your time together, and know your rights during this difficult time.

Bereavement doula are usually offered at no cost to the family experiencing loss. Services can be completely covered by Michigan Medicaid, grant or donations.‍ ‍

  • Help navigating grief and the logistics of miscarriage, stillbirth, and navigating the medical setting.
