Sara Fedewa
Sara is the owner of Birthing with Sara. She practiced as a DONA certified birth doula for eight years in the Lansing area and was a La Leche League Leader until 2015. Since becoming an empty nester, she has brought her business back to life in 2023 and is now serving Calhoun, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, & Washtenaw counties. She has also added postpartum doula and meal planning services.
After having a doula during her last birth, she became passionate about empowering others during their pregnancy. She believes that a pregnant person and (if applicable) their partner should feel empowered in their decisions for their pregnancy and birth choices. As a doula, she provides emotional support, physical comfort measures, an unbiased viewpoint, and assistance in getting information to help make informed decisions. She has experience in providing doula services to people that want an unmedicated birth, a medicated birth, a cesarean birth, a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), a hospital birth, a birth center birth, and a home birth.
Sara is currently working on obtaining her DONA certification, as well as Newborn Care Specialist training. She has had training in Spinning Babies and Hypnobirthing. She is a board member of MPDI. She is also able to accept most Michigan Medicaid insurance plans.
She enjoys reading, crocheting, and cooking. In her spare time, she fosters kittens, provides advocacy work, and tends to her plants. She has been married to her amazing and supportive husband since 2002. They have three beautiful children.
